Is it the weather? The floor? The ocean? Or is it the perfect harmony in which they all come together? Only one place in the world, the conditions come together at the perfect setting for the elite to grow coffee beans in every cup of Hawaiian Kona coffee to go. Mark Twain said it so eloquently, "Kona Coffee is a richer taste than any other, they are grown, where they are, by what name you call, and." ~ 1866, Letters from Hawaii.

Kona> Coffee can be traced back to about 1825, when John Wilkinson made a few seedlings Oahu from Brazil, and executed in 1828 Missionary Rev. Samuel Ruggles on the way to Kona a few young trees to his new home in West Hawaii as an ornamental plant. It promotes born in the hospitable climate and today's coffee industry was.

Coffee requires a very specific combination of sun, earth and water. It has been successfully developed in only a limited number of locations around theWorld. The Kona coast offers just the right combination of the three. The magical diurnal cycle of sunny mornings, humid rainy afternoons, creating mild nights and ideal growing conditions for exotic plants to thrive. The trees grow on the volcanic rocky land, and frost-free mild temperatures.

Kona has been revered for centuries by the elite and the epitome of quality coffee seekers. The Kona coffee-growing district is only about 2 miles wide and 20 miles long, arelatively small area compared to other coffee-growing regions. The Kona region contains approximately 600 independent coffee farms. Most are small, big is usually three to seven acres. Traditionally, as with most farms, they are a family business. The relatively low annual harvest, only serves to increase the demand for coffee from Kona.

In addition to the relatively small amount of coffee, a large part of what is Kona coffee special is the enormousextra taking care of growing, harvesting, processing and grading of the beans. Even a single defective bean can taste a whole pot of coffee or a pound load, then repeated careful sorting, both mechanically and by hand, is used to ensure maximum flavor in every cup.
