Dear Coffee Drinkers

"Fair trade" is primarily a certification that a company demonstrate that it can work with a particular coffee farm, there is a fair price, since the functioning independently. These certifications are mainly sold in the United States by a company in California. For example, Starbucks promote a certain type of coffee sold as Fair Trade coffee. Not all the coffee to be sold as such, becausethis applies only to very few companies that hold these certifications, together with the buyer. This will be demonstrated for the agencies of the United States that govern such certification. Starbucks also sells certified one type of coffee, fair trade, but that does not mean that all their coffee is certified. This would be an impossible task. The biggest problem is most U.S. companies pay only for the farmer or the Fair Trade coffee roaster, and then make sure that the roasterThe publication of this extra money for employees. So the farmer get a fair price, but many times children who work a few cents a day.AND FAIR TRADE – but no guarantee that children used to fetch coffee, or that there are children, a fair price . Neither of them is to ensure that farmers migrate to pay reasonable prices. Fair trade is important in raising the consciousness of people in the coffee industry and has meant that the coffee farmers and / or roasterobtain a fair price and to a lesser extent, some farmers, but has not always helped the people who actually drink coffee and meet other coffee processing. Worse still, has allowed it, most farmers can earn more money to buy small farmers and make more money, while the pool of work is suffering. The current rate of growth of employment in five years, while doubling the price of coffee is fair trade. So what is right for the owners to do more, while workersstill suffering.

Worse still, fair trade has become so popular that many "bad or poor" coffee brands in popoluar – not because the taste, but increased when they were "fair trade" – which has a consistency of taste. Sadlty Fair Trade only way for large landowners receive more money.

Costa Rica on the other side has a different system from that of most coffee producing countries. Our establishment is registered with ICAF for this reason. And 'the proof that we are part of the system that you are sure that our coffee is truly fair trade, even if they are certified by the American call fair trade. We are also in possession of3 other cooperatives in Costa Rica – Coop CoopePalmares Victoria CoopeSabalito. In other words, we are working with more than 8,000 small farmers. Each cooperative has a significant interest% in our roasting facility, and these are the sources from which we draw our raw materials, our beans.

There are several other features ICAF, in close collaboration with the Health Minister, the Minister for Children and the Minister of Labor. ICAF for example, guarantees thatIndians from the jungles of Panama and Nicaragua for a coffee during the harvest period, and pay for health insurance and accommodation suitable accommodation during the harvest season. They also work closely together to ensure that there is exploitation of children and adult workers. Costa Rica is in the protection of the less fortunate and the control of their rights. This is another reason why we are proud members of ICAF.
